The trail had grown in and had been rerouted around collapsed trees.

All through our hike, nature nudged us.

South wind haze pushed today's humidity way up and made rocks slippery. So there were a few bruises on this otherwise successful hike into the back of Manoa Valley.

We made it up to the pools, walking past glistening banks of filmy ferns and tree trunks festooned with mosses.

At one point on the trail there was an "Indiana Jones" style bridge with big holes and soggy planks. Sorry no pictures. :(

Even the common squirrel's tail acanthus climbed high into the trees along the road back to the cars.
